Secondary Transition and Catch-up Plans for Mathematics
These curriculum plans focus on the core skills , knowledge and understanding that an ‘on-track’ learner would be expected to bring to the next stage of their learning and acknowledges that, for many, the habits of learning and the facility to recall previously embedded knowledge will need attention.
The plans are adapted from the HIAS maths scheme of learning but can be used as stand-alone learning schedules.
There are two sets of plans:
- ‘Transition and Catch-up Plans’ to be used in the event of schools returning for the latter half of the summer term. These plans straddle two academic years in that they address a schedule for June and July 2020, followed by an Autumn term 2020 plan.
- ‘Catch-up Plans’ to be used in the event of schools returning in September 2020. These plans address the Autumn term 2020 and take account of previous end of year objectives that may not yet have been taught.
Teachers will need to adapt this schedule to the needs of their learners and, for secondary colleagues, to the number of hours study allocated in the timetable to mathematics.
The Hampshire Mathematics team full scheme of learning for KS1, 2 and 3 (Y1-Y9) offers long and medium-term maps plus linked units of work with key tasks and teaching points.
