This four session project will focus on supporting pupils to work at greater depth in mathematics. Evidenced based techniques and strategies teachers can use to enable pupils to work at greater depth will be shared and developed. This will include looking at curriculum and task design, assessment and questioning.
There will be four 2 hour webinar sessions.
Session 1: Exploring the distinctions of ‘mastery for all’ and ‘greater depth’ Exploring the general principles and strategies of task design that enables pupils to work in depth Looking at how assessment during the lesson can be used to ensure any pupils who are ready, can work at greater depth. Focus on Number and Place value; addition and subtraction.
Gap Task: delegates prepare to bring examples of pupil work teacher assessed as working at greater depth- use of visualiser to share work.
Session 2: Review of pupil work (Gap Task) Looking at questioning for a range of purposes in multiplication and division Developing learning journeys which enable pupils to work at greater depth

Session 3: Review of pupil work (Gap Task) Looking at questioning for a range of purposes to support understanding in fractions. Task design to support working at greater depth in fractions
Gap task: Identifying a Case Study pupil to support dissemination of professional learning with colleagues.
